The title of the musical refers to a writing technique where the author simply listens to what is all around.

Jamal is also convinced that Jamal’s missing father will return any day. Through the machinations of his friend (Bob) Jamal gets a chance to prove how good he is. However, not everything works out as it does in the movies.
