Excellent, Imaginative, Original Musicals

Eyes of a Child

Based on The Little Prince, “Eyes of a Child” is in some ways my most thoughtful musical. First staged with an 8th grade cast in 1997, and later revived by 6th graders in 2021, the show feature a number of my all-time favorite songs, including the awesome “1440 Sunsets.”

The plot roughly follows the book. The title song (Eyes of a Child) comments on the the author’s experience with drawing hats and elephants. We learn about the loneliness of the lamplighter (1440 Sunsets). The drunkard shares his circular logic (Drunk Song). The king thinks he owns everything he sees (I am the King), while the snake both frightens and calms (Snake In The Sand). I combined a musical quote from Edvard Grieg with the style of Burt Bacharach to come up with what may be my most charming song ever (Good Morning to You). The Fox pleads for help (Tame Me) and finally, the Little Prince’s journey ends with a very sad song (When you You Feel How I Feel). All in all, a very emotional musical trip.

I appreciate your comments. Enjoy.

Fourteen-Hundred Forty Sunsets: The poor lamplighter…his job is to light the lamp at dusk, and put it out at dawn. The problem is the planet now rotates completely every 24 hours. This new recording captures the feeling I have always wanted in the song. .
